Dirk Hilgenberg joined CARIAD in August 2020 and is a senior leader in the automotive industry with more than 28 years of international experience in the fields of information technology, software and manufacturing. His ability to anticipate the next level of innovation and transform automotive organizations accordingly has been the foundation for his strong record in turnaround and transformation projects in the industry.

Dirk Hilgenberg is a graduate in physics. In 1999, he began his professional career as General Manager Plant IT Operation at BMW UK Manufacturing Ltd. In 2002, he moved to the BMW Group in Munich as Vice President Process for IT Operations and Engineering. In 2012, Hilgenberg was appointed Vice President Technology Assembly Engineering. Three years later, in 2015, he moved to BMW US Manufacturing LLC in Spartanburg (USA) as Vice President Assembly. In 2017, Hilgenberg was appointed Senior Vice President Manufacturing Engineering at the BMW Group in Munich, where he most recently oversaw the production system and technical planning as division manager, among other things.
